Celestite (Celestite), also known as Celestine, derives its name from the Latin word “caelestis,” meaning “heavenly” or “divine.” This name not only reflects Celestite’s soft blue hue but also highlights its ancient use in connecting with higher realms. For instance, in Ancient Egypt, Celestite was associated with the sky goddess Nut, and the Egyptians believed it brought her protection. This purpose has carried into modern crystal healing practices, where Celestite is used to help connect with the higher self and spirit guides, while also soothing the emotions of the user with its calming energy.

Many customers confuse Celestite with Blue Calcite due to their similar colors and appearances, as well as their similar healing properties. However, the two can be distinguished by their density and crystal structure: Celestite is denser, so the same size piece of Celestite will feel heavier than Blue Calcite. Additionally, Celestite has a more loosely structured crystal formation, making it difficult to carve or polish naturally, which is why polished Celestite products are rare. In contrast, while Blue Calcite has a lower hardness, its trigonal crystal system gives it a tighter structure, making it more suitable for creating polished products.
