Labradorite Star of David
Weight: 13g
Labradorite, also known as the "Stone of Spectra," is famous for its aurora-like iridescent effect. Many customers, upon first hearing the name, wonder if the stone is related to the action of "stretching". In fact, its name comes from the Labrador region of Canada, where it was first discovered. Being part of the feldspar family, the name "Labradorite" combines the region's name with its mineral family.
The colorful reflections of Labradorite are a result of its internal Labradorescence, caused by multiple layers of thin structures within the stone. When light enters, it is reflected and refracted, creating a spectrum of colors such as blue, green, yellow, orange, and purple. Each Labradorite's internal structure forms randomly in nature, making the reflections of each stone unique. Larger reflective surfaces are especially rare and valuable.
Labradorite's unique reflection has inspired many ancient legends. In North American Inuit folklore, it was believed that the Northern Lights were trapped inside Labradorite, and breaking the stone could release the sacred lights back to the sky. In other cultures, its shimmering light is often associated with the colors of the soul and cosmic light, representing a deeper connection to the mysteries of the soul.
