Calcite derives its name from the Latin word “calx,” meaning “lime,” as it is the main component of limestone. Calcite comes in various colors, including colorless, white, yellow, orange, green, and blue. Each color not only has its unique appearance but also possesses different healing properties. Additionally, Calcite has a unique refraction and light transmission effect, creating fascinating refractive patterns when exposed to light.
Calcite has been widely used since ancient times. The ancient Egyptians carved Calcite into utensils and statues. In ancient Greek and Roman civilizations, Calcite was commonly used in construction, and you can find it in structures such as Roman baths and temples.
