Green Tourmaline, also known as Verdelite, is a green variety of the Tourmaline family. It was first discovered in Brazil by Spanish conquerors in the 16th century, who initially mistook it for emerald. It wasn’t until the 19th century that geologists identified it as a separate mineral. Green Tourmaline is primarily found in Brazil, Afghanistan, and Namibia, often forming in igneous rocks after volcanic eruptions, particularly in environments rich in pegmatite. Semi-precious grade Green Tourmaline is popular for jewelry, and its healing properties are highly regarded, making it a favored stone in modern crystal therapy.
