Ruby is one of the world’s oldest gemstones, deriving its name from the Latin word “ruber,” meaning “red,” establishing its position as a highly prized red gemstone.
In Hinduism, ruby is considered a symbol of Surya, the sun god, representing power, vitality, and protection. In Indian tradition, it’s known as “Ratnaraj,” meaning king of gems.
In Burmese folklore, possessing a ruby is believed to make the owner invincible in battle. Rubies were thought to protect warriors from harm, but due to their rarity, only high-ranking warriors and royalty could own them, making them a symbol of status and power.
Though high-quality transparent rubies are rare and expensive, rubies with a higher stone content are often used in crystal healing, benefiting from their energy without the need for the highest clarity.
