HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

The name “Malachite” comes from the Greek word malakos, meaning “soft,” as Malachite was one of the early minerals discovered with a relatively low hardness. The color and pattern of Malachite are reminiscent of a peacock spreading its feathers, and the peacock is also associated with the legendary phoenix. Because of this, Malachite holds great significance in various cultures, symbolizing protection, transformation, and spiritual power.

In ancient Egypt, Malachite was considered a sacred stone, symbolizing rebirth and protection. Egyptians believed that Malachite could connect with the power of the phoenix, helping souls in the “afterlife” to successfully transform into higher beings. The concentric rings on Malachite were also seen as representations of the “sacred eye,” watching over and guarding against evil forces, symbolizing protection from negative energies.
