HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

Sodalite is a deep blue mineral often mistaken for Lapis Lazuli due to their similar appearance and healing properties. However, unlike Lapis Lazuli, Sodalite does not contain pyrite inclusions and commonly exhibits pure white streaks.

The name “Sodalite” originates from its sodium content, a scientific name that reflects its relatively recent discovery in human history. Sodalite was first identified in 1811 in Canada. In 1891, high-quality Sodalite was mined in the Bancroft region of Ontario, Canada, significantly elevating its status within the mineral world, eventually becoming a prized possession of royalty and nobility. In modern crystal healing practices, Sodalite is frequently used due to its resonance with the throat chakra, making it one of the essential healing stones.
