HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

Amazonite is named after the Amazon River in South America, although it is not actually found in the Amazon River region. Its main sources are Brazil and Madagascar. The name comes from the stone’s blue-green hue, often streaked with white lines resembling flowing rivers, which inspired the association with one of the world’s most famous rivers.

In ancient cultures, Amazonite was a frequently used crystal. For example, it was found in Egyptian artifacts, in religious offerings in ancient American ruins, and in various Chinese carvings and art. Many civilizations believed in its protective properties, with warriors wearing Amazonite as a talisman for courage and protection.
